Everyone has been here
where you sit down to write, stare at a blinking cursor then feel like your creativity dried up overnight, right?
That silence in your mind, the fear that maybe you’ve run out of things to say can be enough to make you question your path as a creator.
But what if you never had to feel that way again?
The truth is, inspiration isn’t something you wait for. It’s something you collect like little treasures scattered throughout your day, waiting for you to notice them.
Here’s my little secret of how I turn ordinary moments into endless content ideas:
Podcasts: I listen to podcasts , soo much either audio or am watching after work, just to get inspired + you all know am a learner. One powerful sentence can change your entire perspective. So I just pause, write it down, and let it spark a future post.
Books (even just a chapter): A single highlighted paragraph can open up a universe of ideas. Reading isn’t just learning — it’s discovering new possibilities.
Newsletters from big creators: I have an email, where I have subscribed to a lot of newsletters and I try as much as I can to read them over the weekend or sometimes at night. People like Dan Koe share insights that make me stop and reflect. I use their thoughts as starting points to explore my own voice.
LinkedIn & Substack Notes: Community conversations are filled with hidden gems. A simple comment or post from big well known creators like Justin Welsh can unravel an entire thread of inspiration.
Conversations: The honest, messy, emotional talks we have with friends or fellow creators often contain the seeds of our best work.
Here is an example: this was my post yesterday on LinkedIn; Inspired by a conversation we had with my friends over the weekend; https://www.linkedin.com/posts/magdalinemwihaki_why-are-you-posting-on-linkedin-so-much-activity-7302583602813272064-U4nq
Because here’s what I have learned after writing for 5yrs and actively writing online for myself for almost 2yrs now, if you don’t capture those ideas, they disappear.
The worst part? The idea that could change someone’s life might fade away before you ever get a chance to write it.
That’s why I created an Idea Capture Sheet — a simple, practical template that helps you store, organize, and refine your bursts of inspiration. It’s the exact system I use to turn fleeting thoughts into impactful content.
Your future audience is waiting to hear your voice, don’t let your best ideas slip away.

What you missed
Great post. - I find that even TV shows can be great for ideas. Sometimes, a quote or a piece of dialogue from a character gives me an idea for content.
I'd agree with you that if the piece sparks your interest and makes you think, it'll probably do the same for others, too.
I love this, I recently brought some books home that had been stored in my mums loft, just finishing one book and it’s given me so many ideas for my own posts. I’m going to think about the other things you’ve suggested, such a great post and read, thank you 🥰
